The End... The Beginning...

by Michael Dymmoch

I pretty much stayed out of the political debate. There’s been no shortage of information (and misinformation) about the race and the candidates, and our readers are smart enough to make up their own minds.

I voted early yesterday, then put the election out of mind. I didn’t even turn on my TV until 11:00 PM—to get coverage of the rally in Grant Park. Here in Chicago there weren’t any fireworks, though the rest of the world was/is celebrating like crazy.

Barack Obama’s words to his supporters were eloquent, wise, gracious, hopeful and brief.

We are all winners.

Thank you, Michael. I admit that sometime between the day Hillary dropped out and last night, I drank the Kool-Aid. And I'd like to hang on to it -- and the hope and pride I feel toward our county--just a little longer.

Sweden reporting - we were all heavily on the Barack Obama side here, and we are so relieved. The Bush years have been hard and left us shaking our heads, and today we are proud of America. I know an American bookstore-owner in Stockholm, and I had to go and congratulate her. This is amazing.
