The Ghosts of Pasha need to get a grip. If they're out there touring without a CD to sell, what do they expect? They're playing in New York, they got into Spin and Rolling Stone, and if they have any creativity, they'll jump on this and parlay it into something big.Mike Dennishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16851474841028579967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29793018.post-45823588607679423452010-03-26T15:47:00.748-05:002010-03-26T15:47:00.748-05:00I don't think your example is quite the same t...I don't think your example is quite the same thing, Libby. The contract between readers and writers or performers and audience is based on expectations. Certainly an author goes to a reading/signing hoping that readers will be entertained and buy his or her books, but I think expecting everyone to buy a book would be out of line.Kevin Guilfoilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08239157460247794910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29793018.post-63457007861800159252010-03-26T13:15:31.143-05:002010-03-26T13:15:31.143-05:00The idea of a contract between writer/entertainer ...The idea of a contract between writer/entertainer and reader is a worthwhile concept. It can also be laden with freight. I'm probably gonna tick a lot of people off, but consider this variation. An author prepares for a signing, either at a booktore or other (private or semi private) venue. He/she does it without charging anything, in the hope that he/she will sell books at the end of a Libby Hellmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10693555214699897283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29793018.post-88363062887258463682010-03-26T09:17:55.268-05:002010-03-26T09:17:55.268-05:00I used to be a musician. They had a blast for a couple of hours, and got some free pub they never could have afforded to pay for. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Besides, how seriously should we take a band called Ghosts of Pasha? I'm not saying they're not good, and they don't take their music seriously, but Dana Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01350344882342624735noreply@blogger.com
